Types of Education | Classification and characteristics

Education is a process by which the acquisition of knowledge, skills, values, or attitudes is facilitated. Education occurs in different contexts, may be presented in different forms, and may vary in content, but the goal is always the same.

Types of education

Although education is a universal concept, formal education can vary from country to country. Also, each cultural context makes a difference in the way of education. Education can be imparted in a formal or informal manner.

Formal education

Formal education is formal education. It is taught in educational centres and has three salient features: formal education is delivered in a systematic manner; it is delivered intentionally; and it is systematically planned. Formal education is regulated by law. "Behind the Education Act" is a plan whereby people are trained professionally. After passing through various stages, certificates, diplomas, or various degrees are awarded.

Non-formal education

It is a type of learning that is intentional and structured but that is outside the formal realm. Hence, there is no law and it is not regulated by the government sector. It can be recognized by a certificate, but it has no professional value. Non-formal education is lifelong.

Rather than in educational institutions, it is given in the social sphere, for example, when parents teach their children values. This is what has the most historical significance. Thus, it is a form of learning that continues throughout life, even in situations where you are not aware of it.
